Now that Joseph Dituri has beaten the world record for living underwater without depressurization, he may have a new problem. The professor and retired U.S. Naval officer who lived 30 feet underwater in Jules’ Undersea Lodge for 100 days, has announced he’s “shrunk about half an inch.”

Dituri revealed in an interview that he first noticed the height change when he was no longer hitting his head on the escape hatch, as he’d been doing previously. The researcher added, “When I get to the surface, I am 72 and a little bit inches. I’m like ‘Maaaan, I was 73!’” It’s unclear whether or not Dituri will regain the height he lost after now that he’s back on land.
