A woman in Iowa is reunited with her missing dog after a bartender saw her plea for help on social media. Riley Pilch’s dog Rip disappeared from her yard last week and she couldn’t find him anywhere. So the West Des Moines woman posted on social media hoping someone in the community had seen Rip.
"We started getting tips and people started sharing it and then it just kind of blew up," Pilch says. A couple of days later, Riley Kirk, a local bartender, saw the post and made a connection. "I saw a post for a missing black German Shepherd,” recalls Kirk. “It looked exactly like the black German Shepard that was in [the bar] the night prior."
With the new clue, Pilch worked with local police to recover her dog. Police used surveillance footage from the bar to find the couple that brought Rip into the bar. Soon afterwards, Rip was reunited with his owner and Pilch is grateful for the help she received getting him back home. "Honestly it was everybody else that made this happen. All of social media, the community, it took a village. Everyone rallied up for him. I'm so happy," she says.
