Swimmer Reunites Woman With Class Ring Lost 49 Years Ago

A Minnesota dive team member was swimming in Ada Lake looking for possible aquatic invasive species when something shiny caught his eye. Joe Carlson took a closer look and discovered a class ring that had been under water for quite a while.

Once he was back on dry land, he saw it was a 1972 Pequot Lakes High School class ring and he posted a photo of it on a local Facebook page. Luckily, Carla Marie Headlee happened to see it and it was the first time she laid eyes on her ring since she lost it in 1972.She recalls that she only had her class ring for a few weeks when she went swimming and lost it. And she’s thankful to have it back after all this time.

“I'm amazed and very grateful that my ring has been found, thanks to Joe Carlson,” Headlee says. “It is even sweeter because I truly never expected to see it again. What a good surprise!”
