Social Media Helps Track Down Owner Of Purple Heart Medal

A good Samaritan in Wichita, Kansas, used social media to find the owner of a Purple Heart medal. It had been stolen during a break in at Frank Ojile’s law office, where he had it on display to honor his uncle, Marvin R. Setter, who was awarded the honor and killed in the Korean War.

Ojile says the medal was one of his most prized possessions and when he realized it was missing, he was “overcome with sadness, anger, all the emotions.” But it didn’t take too long before he got it back. A woman found the Purple Heart while she was doing yard work and her landlord turned to Facebook to track down its owner. In less than 24 hours, Ojile had his uncle’s medal again.

“I was taken aback, I was stunned, I was speechless, and overcome with emotion,” Ojile says of being reunited with the Purple Heart. “Because this is the one item that was taken out of the burglary that meant the most. I’m blessed, truly blessed.”
