On 11-19-2025 at 1000 hrs, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call requesting a welfare check at 722 N. Henry St., Crestline OH. The caller advised that a co-worker did not show up for work today and they thought they seen blood at her residence. The call was transferred to Crestline Police Department.
Officers responded to the address and requested Deputies to assist. Law Enforcement forced entry into the residence and discovered a female, later identified as Lisa R. Anatra, age 61, deceased inside the residence. Law Enforcement also discovered a male, later identified as Matthew Lindsey Anatra, age 63, deceased in the detached garage.
BCI&I along with the Crawford County Prosecutor and Crawford County Coroner were contacted and requested at the scene.
Family informed Law Enforcement that Maxwell L. Anatra, age 24, last known address in Bowling Green, had been at the scene the night before but family had not been able to contact him.
Information was obtained that Maxwell had been in Michigan earlier in the morning and might be trying to leave the country. Additional information led to the Sheriff’s Office obtaining an arrest warrant for Maxwell for Murder. Detectives coordinated with Homeland Security to attempt to apprehend Maxwell.
At approximately 5:30 PM, Detectives received a call from Homeland Security advising that Maxwell was arrested by Canadian Officials after crossing the border, into Canada. Maxwell is being held in Michigan, until arrangements can be made to transport him back to Crawford County.
Law Enforcement and BCI&I were still at the residence as of 9:30 PM, processing the crime scene.
No further details at this time.
