Mount Vernon Police Investigate Shooting Incident; Suspect Apprehended
MOUNT VERNON, OH – October 14, 2025 – On October 14, 2025, at approximately 9:22 a.m., Knox County 911 received a report of a shooting. The Mount Vernon Police Department responded in under two minutes to the 900 block of East Gambier Street. Upon the officers' arrival, a suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect has been transported to the Knox County jail with charges pending.
A victim with multiple gunshot wounds fled the scene and was located by officers nearby. Officers secured the scene, allowing Mount Vernon Fire Department personnel to provide medical care. MVFD transported the victim to a medical helicopter for transport to a trauma center. Their condition is unknown at this time.
There is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
The 900 block of Howard Street is closed until further notice while the investigation continues.
The Mount Vernon Police Department was assisted by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Mount Vernon Fire Department. Detectives with the Mount Vernon Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident.
