There was a house explosion in Mansfield, early Wednesday morning, on Becky Drive in Mifflin Township.
A male occupant was burned extensively, according to the Madison Township Fire Department and 3 firefighters were injured from debris caused by the explosion. They were taken to OhioHealth in Mansfield.
A female at the home was outside and not injured.
Crews found the single story home, just before 7 am, heavily involved when arriving and a second explosion happened, as crews were extinguishing the blaze.
6 fire departments provided assistance at the scene: Madison, Mifflin, Mansfield, Ashland, Monroe-Lucas, Washington and Savannah.
Madison Fire Chief, Ken Justus told WMAN News: the man, who was burned in the fire and explosion, was taken to the OSU Burn Center in Columbus. Two of the firefighters injured are being evaluated at OhioHealth in Mansfield, while the Mifflin Fire Chief was taken to Riverside Hospital in Columbus for treatment of his hand.
The fire and explosion appear to be accidental, but is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.
