West Salem – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred on Stratton Road, just south of Jeffrey Road in Congress Township, Wayne County.
On Friday, April 18, 2025, at 10:39 PM, the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol received a report of a Ford F-150, operated by Tylor James Green, 33 years old of West Salem, Ohio, that had gotten stuck in a ditch while exiting a private field on the west side of Stratton Road. Lieutenant Paul Charles Mickolick with the Town and County Fire District arrived on scene in his personal vehicle to assist, parking on the west side of the roadway near the F-150. A short time later, a report came in of a two-vehicle crash at that same location.
A 2006 Cadillac CTS, operated by Creighton L. Trimble, 64 years old of West Salem, Ohio, was southbound on Stratton Road when he drove off the right side of the roadway into the ditch, striking the F-150 as well as Mr. Green and Lieutenant Mickolick who were standing near the F-150. Both Mr. Green and Lieutenant Mickolick were ground transported to the Cleveland Clinic Lodi Hospital by Town and County Fire and EMS. Mr. Green was flown by helicopter to Akron General with serious injuries. Lieutenant Mickolick died as a result of his injuries. He was 43 years of age.
Lieutenant Mickolick worked as a Flight Paramedic with the Cleveland Clinic prior to joining the Town and County Fire District as a full-time Firefighter Paramedic in 2022.
Assisting on scene were the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Town and Country Fire District, New Pittsburg Fire and EMS, Lodi Fire and EMS, and Bear’s Towing and Repair.
The crash remains under investigation.
