Mohican Township - On Monday January 06, 2025 at approximately 12:22 PM the Ashland Highway Patrol Post was dispatched to a two-vehicle injury crash on US 30 (Eastbound Lanes) at the intersection of State Route 89. The crash involved two commercial vehicles, a Semi-Truck and a Propane Tanker. The two vehicles collided within the intersection which caused the Semi-Truck to go off the south portion of the road and overturn. The Propane Tanker also overturned, but in the eastbound lanes of US 30. After the collision the Tanker began leaking propane. Local businesses and residences near the crash scene were evacuated due to the propane leak.
The area in and around the intersection are now closed. US 30 in both directions are closed at State Route 89 between County Road 2175 and County Road 175. State Route 89 is closed between County Road 30A and County Road 2000. ODOT has set up detours at US 30 & US 250 and US 30 & State Route 60. Motorists are urged to stay clear of the area and find alternate routes around the crash scene. Emergency personnel are continuing the clean-up of the scene and an update will be sent out when the area is open for travel.
Both drivers involved in the crash were transported to University Hospital Ashland with non-life threatening injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is being assisted on scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Jeromesville Fire & EMS, Hayesville Fire & EMS, ODOT, and the Ashland County Emergency Management Agency
