The Richland County Commissioners this week approved up to $500,000 in mobile hotspots to help provide students in Richland County with internet access with the possibility of more remote learning this fall due to the pandemic.

RichlandSource.com reports the money will come from the Federal CARES ACT funds, which so far Richland County has received around $2 million.

Tony Vero said Madison Superintendent Rob Peterson reached out to him to get the ball rolling on the project and Vero plans to submit the request for more than 1,200 hotspots on Friday.
