Fans of RL Stine’s infamous novel series “Fear Street,” or of Netflix’s recent adaptation, will be excited to hear some news from the streamer’s Head of Film. Scott Stuber acknowledged that there’s plenty of material to pull from in the series… but he revealed they’re circling the wagons on a particular story right now.

“There’s one stand-alone that we’re working on right now,” admitted the exec. “So I feel like if we can get the script right, there would be a great kind of extension of that franchise.” The news gets even better, as Stuber confessed that Netflix is hoping “Fear Street” or one of their other horror offerings might turn into their very own iconic franchise.

“I’d like us to find our own Freddy Krueger, our own Jason,” he said. And while there’s no telling at the moment where Netflix is looking to find a new horror legend, “Fear Street” does seem to be in the mix.
