A random act of kindness at a Louisiana grocery leads to a new friendship between two strangers. Last week, Jason Boudreaux was checking out at a New Iberia, Louisiana, grocery store when the cashier told him he had “insufficient funds” to pay for his groceries. In a now viral social media post, Boudreaux shares that he’d just deposited his paycheck and expected the money would be available, but he was wrong. Then the person behind him in line speaks up and says, “I got you.”
Boudreaux insists the groceries were too much for anyone to help him with, saying, “You probably didn’t hear the price.” But the stranger says, “Yes, sir, I did and I got you.” Boudreax took a quick selfie with the kind stranger before they parted ways, but he didn’t catch his name, so in his post he asks for help tracking down the man so he could thank him again and pay him back.
With help from the Internet, the stranger was identified as Kevin Jones, also from New Iberia. Boudreaux soon found out it was his new friend’s birthday, so he reached out to him and invited him to enjoy a meal with his family and they could all celebrate together, which Jones accepted. Now the two men and their families are all friends and it all started with a single random act of kindness.
