Georgia SWAT Officer Saves Baby Who Stops Breathing

A Georgia police officer saves an unresponsive baby by performing CPR. While on patrol last Friday, Atlanta Police SWAT Officer Rober Oden spotted a vehicle driving down the road with its hazards on and the car horn “frantically blowing.” He followed the vehicle until it pulled into the parking lot of a fire station.

Footage from Oden’s body camera shows him getting out of his cruiser and a woman running toward him holding a baby saying, “He’s not responding. He’s not responding.” The officer radios in the situation before checking the baby’s pulse and beginning chest compressions, first with his fingertips and then with just his thumb.

About one minute after Oden starts CPR, the baby starts moving his legs. EMTs arrive seconds later, take the baby to a waiting ambulance, and rush him to the hospital for further treatment. Atlanta Police released a statement saying how proud they were of Officer Oden’s “quick, calm, caring, and professional” actions in this critical moment.
