A young couple in Tennessee get engaged right after nearly losing their engagement ring in a car fire. On Monday afternoon, Myers Hart and Brooklynn Stevens were driving a rental car down the interstate in Tennessee when they heard a loud pop. He pulled over and realized the car was on fire.
The couple and Brooklynn’s best friend safely made it out of the vehicle as the fire intensified. Then as they stood helplessly by while the car burned, it dawned on Myers that the engagement ring he’d recently bought was still inside the vehicle. He could only hope the ring would survive. After firefighters extinguished the flames, Brooklynn’s friend quietly asked them if they would look for the ring, which they did, finding it still in perfect condition, although the ring box was charred.
Choosing to see their safe escape from the fire and the recovery of the ring as a good sign, Myers decided that then and there was the best time to pop the question. “And he gets on one knee and I’m like, ‘Here?’ and I started crying. I said, ‘Here? Right now? Like the car just caught on fire. Are you serious? I mean … Yes! Yes, of course I want to,’” says Brooklynn. The ring was still warm from the fire when Myers put it on her finger and now this young couple has a very unique engagement story to share.
