Sanitation Crew Surprises Boy On Route With Balloons & Toys

Sanitation workers in Dallas surprise their biggest little fan with a balloon and bag of toys after hearing he was hurt in an accident. Kevin Ray has been driving for the Dallas Sanitation Department for about seven months. He and the crew on his truck always looked forward to seeing a five-year-old boy on their route who would race out to see them on their weekly visits. Seeing the boy’s smile makes their day go by a little faster.

Recently, Ray found out that the little boy, Beckham, had been in an accident and had to be hospitalized. So he got together with his coworkers and they decided to do something nice for the boy. A doorbell video posted to social media by Beckham’s mom Jessica shows one of the workers knocking on the family’s door. When they answer, he hands them a gift bag full of toys with a balloon tied to it for the boy.

"When my helpers handed him a bag of toys, he's, 'OMG, OMG, is this a monster truck?!' He was very excited to see that. Just made our day," Ray says. "It was very touching to see him after we heard about his accident, him coming to the door. His smile was just so beautiful, so big." Jessica says she shared the video because public service workers too often are underappreciated, but it’s easy to appreciate the kindness of these workers and the appreciation of their young buddy.
