When a fire in Panama City, Florida approached Jackie Mihal’s home she had no idea how she’d evacuate. Not only did she have to pack herself up, but she had to take 86 cats and a bunny too. Mihal runs the Salty Cats of St. Andrews Rescue Group out of her home and there was a mix of challenges.
Some were feral and sick, plus she didn’t have enough carriers for them. Luckily, three strangers were nearby and came to help get the pets to safety. Mihal says Brian Salmon, Scott Morris, and Scott Trunzo were there for a reason.
The good news is Mihal was able to return home with the animals on Monday. While some things burned in the fire, she’s gotten help getting cat beds, blankets, toys, and towers. Jackie says “Now we will be getting back to our normal crazy cat days. Thank you everyone for all of your support."
