Dad’s Quick Reflexes Save Son As Car Crashes Into Donut Shop

When a stolen car crashed into the front of a Colorado donut shop, a dad acted quickly pulling his son out of harm’s way. On a recent Saturday morning, Allan Taylor and his four-year-old son Zane were waiting for their donuts at City Donuts in Aurora. Taylor was paying for their treats when he heard a noise, looked over toward his son, and saw a vehicle careening toward the shop’s window, headed straight at Zane.

Surveillance video from the incident showTaylor glancing over at his son just as the car comes into view. He then rushes over, grabbing the boy and falling to the ground just out of the way of the car crashing through the storefront. “I heard the pop in the intersection, I turned, it was all in slow motion,” says Kirk Manzanares, who witnessed the incident.. “My first initial (thought) was, ‘Where is the kid, where is the kid?’”

Taylor and his son were treated for minor injuries and released, but if it hadn’t been for the dad’s swift actions, the incident could have been tragic. City Donuts has offered Zane a donut every Saturday for the rest of his life.

  • Police say the driver of the car is still at large.
