A community in the UK is on high alert after being warned that 12 poisonous snakes have been spotted slithering around the Northeast region. Adders are the UK’s only venomous snake and bites from those slithery little suckers tend to rise around this time of year.

While the severity of an adder bite depends on a person’s weight, health, and age, symptoms can develop quickly, and cause dizziness and swelling. The bites tend to be the worst for the very young, sick, and elderly. Experts suggest that anyone who gets bitten seek medical attention as soon as possible.
