A man and his grandmother are alive today, thanks to the kindness of a stranger. Firefighters with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue in Oregon say Kai Brown was in his house in West Linn on February 26th when he saw a flickering orange glow and realized the house was on fire. He called 911 and tried to get his grandmother, Jennie Brown, out of the house.
Kai recalls that when he got to the top of the stairs, he was struggling to breathe and as he tried to help his grandma down the stairs, she slipped and fell, and was unable to get back up. Fortunately, that’s when Ronnie Coulam was walking by, saw the smoke and rushed to help.
Despite being a complete stranger, he risked his own safety and ran into the burning home. Coulam was able to get Jennie to the door, where arriving firefighters were able to pick her up and carry her out of the house. She says, “This angel came out of nowhere and just swooped me up and I was out the door like that.” Firefighters were able to put the blaze out and the family is grateful for Coulam’s help saving the grandma.
