When a fire broke out at a Seattle dog daycare, employees of the neighboring businesses rushed to help get the dogs to safety. Last month, The Dog Resort in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood caught fire. Employees at PSR Mechanical across the street from The Dog Resort watched as smoke poured out of the windows and knew they needed to do something to help first responders deal with the roughly 60 dogs that needed to be evacuated.

So nine PSR employees and workers from Aceitunos Mexican Foods helped coral the pups into the fenced-in yard at PSR while firefighters worked to put out the fire. PSR employee Greg Hagen says everybody worked together to make sure the dogs were safe and pretty soon, the dogs were at ease in their new surroundings. The PSR crew even helped reunite puppy parents who arrived frantically looking for their fur babies after learning about the fire on the news.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire — human or dog — and the neighbors who sprang into action to save the pups are being recognized for their heroics. Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell dropped by PSR and Aceitunos Mexican Foods to thank them for rescuing the dogs and to present them with a letter of recognition. "It was a chaotic moment and I wouldn't want to go through that again," Hagen says, “But we're just glad we could help.”
