A customer starts a crowdfund for an elderly pizza delivery person and raises more than $250-thousand. Earlier this month, Barbara Gillespie, a 72-year-old Domino’s driver, was making a delivery to Kevin Keighron’s Berkeley County, South Carolina, home when she took a spill on his front porch. Kevin rushed outside to help her and was struck by the fact that Barbara was more concerned about dropping his food than herself.
Later that day, Kevin’s wife, Lacey, posted the doorbell video of Barbara’s fall on TikTok and it went viral, racking up millions of views. She then created a GoFundMe so Barbara could take a day off to recuperate from her fall and by the next day it had raised over $50-thousand. The Keighrons went to Domino’s that day to check on Barbara and deliver the good news. She told them she was a little bruised, but doing well. Then they told her about the crowdfund and the money that had been raised for her. She was stunned and a little confused. “I am just standing there and tears are welling in my eyes,” Barbara recalls. “And I am going, ‘I can't believe this. This isn't happening to me’"
Within a week, the crowdfund had exceeded $250-thousand and Barbara is rightfully feeling very blessed by the kindness she’s receiving. "When I fell, I was thinking, I didn't need this, this is going to make things so much worse,” she says. “But then all of this happened."
