The country of Qatar is donating 10-thousand cabins and mobile homes leftover from the 2022 World Cup to survivors of the earthquake in Turkey. Following the devastating earthquake on February 6th, millions of Turkish and Syrian families have been left homeless and have been forced to sleep outside in wet and cold conditions.

Their neighbor to the south, Qatar just happened to have the perfect solution to help house some of the survivors. Qatar built thousands of mobile homes to house some of the 1.4-million visitors who came to see the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the country. Donating them was alway part of the plan, but given the urgent need of housing in Turkey and Syria, they made the decision to send 10-thousand of them to help house survivors displaced by the earthquake.

On Sunday, the Qatar Fund for Development tweeted that the first batch of 350 of the mobile homes was shipped out to the affected area. Qatar is joining other Gulf countries in helping survivors of the earthquake. The United Arab Emirates has pledged $100-million for relief efforts and Saudi Arabia has sent eight planes loaded with supplies to Turkey and Syria.
