Good Samaritan Saves Woman Choking At Restaurant

Jenn Gottschling was enjoying a rare dinner out at a restaurant in Warren, Michigan, with a friend when she started choking on her meal. She stood up and other customers came over, but no one knew what to do. Realizing Jenn was in real distress, another diner, Falicia Clark, rushed over and took control of the situation.

Falicia came up behind Jenn, performing the Heimlich maneuver on her. After a couple of good thrusts, she was able to free the cheese from Jenn’s airway, saving her life. Fortunately for Jenn, Falicia runs a daycare center and part of her training includes CPR and the Heimlich maneuver, so she knew exactly what she was doing.

“The lady was great, she was a hero,” a waitress at Leo's Coney Island says of Falicia, but she disagrees. “I don’t consider myself a hero,” she says. “I’m just a human and when I see another human in need, I just step in when I’m needed.” Jenn also sees Falicia as her hero and says, “I’m so grateful to her.”
