A North Carolina police K-9 helps track down the home of a four-year-old boy found wandering in the street. Earlier this week, road-work contractors in Nashville, North Carolina, brought a young boy to the Nashville Fire Department after finding him running down the middle of the road.

The fire department contacted local law enforcement, who took custody of the child and contacted child protective services. The boy wasn’t able to give them any specific information about where he’d come from, so law enforcement began canvassing the area.

Because the area was so large, additional law enforcement was called in to assist, including police K-9 Renzo. After about 15 minutes of Renzo casting the area, he picked up a scent and led first responders to the boy’s residence. It was determined that the boy had been under the supervision of an older sibling. The child was later reunited with his parents and law enforcement is working with child protective services to ensure this doesn’t happen again in the future.
