A 12-year-old boy in Hawaii has been saving his money all year so he can buy Christmas gifts for kids in need. When Raiden Barrientos was only four-years-old, he had a realization that what he liked even more than receiving gifts on Christmas, was the joy of giving a gift to someone less fortunate. So the now 12-year-old Honolulu boy has made it an annual tradition to buy Christmas presents for kids whose parents are struggling financially.

Raiden saves his money all year to pay for the gifts he gives out during the holidays. Money he got for his birthday, gift cards he received last Christmas, and little bits of cash he’s earned over the year are all going to help make Christmas special for more than 15 underprivileged kids this year. And he likes to buy more than one present for the kids he helps. “I would rather give multiple gifts that are the same price, as one big one,” Raiden says.

The tween’s mom, Diana Rabanal, says that kindness just comes naturally to her son, saying, “He wants to be able to share it with other kids, other teenagers, anybody. He's always wanting to give.” And what’s really special is when Raiden gets to see how much of an impact his giving makes. “I gave this one present to this little kid and he was so excited he started to tear up. And he said 'thank you so much' and gave me a big hug,” Raiden recalls. “It kind of warmed my heart.”
