A North Carolina woman’s urge to buy a lotto ticket leads to a $500-thousand jackpot. Stephanie Israel of Browns Summit, North Carolina, told lotto officials that she felt “an urge” to buy a lottery ticket on a recent evening. “It was late at night, and I was lying in bed and the spirit just told me to go online and buy one,” Israel says. “There was only four minutes left until the drawing.”
Well, that urge led to a big win for Israel and her family. When she checked her email in the morning, she saw a notification from the North Carolina Lottery that she’d won over $500-thousand. “When I went in and saw it, I screamed for like 20 minutes,” she says. “I think I scared my family a little bit.”
Israel ended up taking home over $350-thousand after state and federal taxes were taken out and she says her family is full of entrepreneurs, so they’re going to use the money to invest in their future. “We are constantly thinking of new ideas for businesses,” Israel says. “Our boys already have a landscaping business.”
