Shaq foots the bill for him and 15 of his friends to go back to school to get their master’s degrees. During a recent online interview, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal shared that he’d paid for 15 of his friends to earn their master’s degrees.
Over the years since he retired from the NBA, Shaq has proven to be more than a great basketball player. He’s bought and sold dozens of franchises, owns his own chain of restaurants, and has racked up nearly a half-billion dollar net worth. But he noticed that when he would meet with people to do a deal, they would immediately look to his lawyers and accountants to talk details. So, in order to prove that he knew what he was talking about, Shaq looked into going back to school to get his master’s degree.
Shaq contacted University of Phoenix about their MBA program. They’re mostly an online university, but he wanted to be in a classroom. They told him that they needed to have at least 15 people to do an in-person class, so he found 15 friends interested in getting their master’s degrees and paid the bill for all of them. Later in the interview, he revealed that his parents were so proud of him for getting his MBA, but wished they had a doctor in the family. So, like any good son, Shaq went back to school and earned his doctorate in education. So now he’s Dr. Shaq!
