A missing elderly woman is reunited with her family thanks to a sheriff canine officer. Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a missing elderly woman in Carthage, North Carolina. The woman, who was described as having a cognitive disorder, walked away from her family’s home in the middle of the night and couldn’t be found.
Deputy Kevin Dean arrived on scene with his partner K-9 ROKI. Despite the rainy conditions, K-9 ROKI set off on the elderly woman’s trail. Within 40 minutes of being deployed, the sheriff canine officer found the woman in a nearby field.
The woman was returned to her grateful family and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office later took to social media to announce the successful operation and praise their officers. “This was a great effort by all deputies involved and the victim was returned to her family safe and secure,” the post read.
