An entrepreneur in St. Petersburg, Florida, is using his success to give back to his community. Michael Baker, co-inventor of the Odayex 6 speedometer display, is using some of the profits from his popular product to do some good in his St. Pete neighborhood. He and his partners are spreading joy during the holidays, teaching kids about providing for themselves, and helping to give a leg up to those in need.

Baker and his partners especially love giving back during the holidays. Every Christmas, they buy a hundred or more bicycles and pass them out to kids who might otherwise not get a present. And he’s turned the backyard of his St. Pete home into a garden full of fruits and vegetables. He likes to show kids in his neighborhood how they did it when he was a kid. “Bringing them back to our roots and where we started as far as gardening,” he explains. “Showing them the right way to do that versus having to go to the store and buy food. Show them how to grow their own food.”

The Odayex 6 developers also are working on helping some in their community who can’t afford housing. They’ve purchased six homes, renovated them and are renting them out to low income families. Mostly, Baker says they're doing what they do so kids don’t have to face the hardship they did in their youth. “We want them to grow up a little different than we did,” he says. “We had to struggle and fight and we want to give them more than what we had.”
