The young daughter of a Central Florida EMT is being praised for helping to save a life during a medical emergency. Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR) EMT Chris Varner was at work when his eight-year-old daughter Paisley called him on his cell phone. He assumed she was calling for their usual end-of-day chat, but she was actually calling because the caretaker who was watching her and her little sister was having a medical emergency and was unresponsive.
Varner says his daughter calmly informed him that she had already called 911 and help was on the way. He confirmed that Paisley had given dispatch all the correct information and stayed on the phone with her until first responders arrived a few minutes later. She even said she’d be willing to perform CPR if her dad thought it was necessary.
Thanks to Paisley’s quick thinking, the caretaker is expected to make a full recovery. PCFR later took to social media to thank Paisley and praise her for her actions, saying, "The care Paisley displayed for someone that was in need and her concern for helping someone else experiencing a medical emergency is an amazing thing. Awesome work Paisley!"
