A baby in Boston is safe following a fire in her family’s home that forced her parents to throw her from a second floor window on Sunday. Fortunately, an off-duty firefighter who also lives in the multi-family home saw the mother hanging out the window holding the infant and was on the ground to safely catch the tot.

The firefighter, who doesn’t want his name released, then ran back inside the house to rescue his own wife and child from the blaze. Both of the baby’s parents jumped from the second floor window, according to the Boston Fire Department, and they were taken to the hospital for injuries, including severe cuts from broken glass.

Brian Atkins with the Boston Fire Department says the firefighter “made a lot of fast decisions and they were good decisions.” The man is being credited with saving precious lives that day and no firefighters were hurt in the fire.
