A family’s missing dog places third in a dog show after a man finds her on his way to the event and decides to enter her. When their five-year-old beagle mix, Bonnie, went missing one Sunday morning, Paula and Peter Closier searched everywhere for her. Shortly after the pup walked out of the Closier’s open gate, John Wilmer passed by and spotted the stray dog on the side of the road.
Wilmer was on his way to a nearby dog show with his two dogs. He was in a rush, so he picked up Bonnie and posted a picture of her on a local social media page saying he'd found a lost dog before continuing on the event. Since Bonnie was along for the ride anyway, Wilmer decided to enter her in the competition for best rescue dog, where she finished in third place.
The Closiers saw the social media post and Wilner returned Bonnie to her home that afternoon. The family couldn’t believe the adventure their pup had been on that day. "You could not make it up. Bonnie was absolutely fine when she got back,” Peter says. “She just thought she was having a great day out." Of all the different potential outcomes of Bonnie going missing, no one expected her to come home with a third place ribbon.
