NBA rising star Ja Morant from the Memphis Grizzlies leaves a $500 tip to a stunned Florida waitress. Earlier this week, the 22-year-old point guard was having a meal at a Florida restaurant and being filmed for a YouTube docu-series on up-and-coming NBA stars. In the video, he’s talking to his waitress after leaving a very generous $500 tip.
The waitress asks Morant who he is and he jokingly responds, “Black Jesus.” The waitress then asks what sport he plays and what team he plays for. When he responds that he plays for the Grizzlies, she realizes who he is, gasps and puts her hands over her mouth. She then goes off to tell her coworkers.
To Morant’s delight, his friend and teammate Jaren Jackson Jr later posted that #BlackJesus was trending on Twitter. Another of Morant’s friends, European pro-basketballer Jonathan Stark posted that being generous is an “everyday” activity for the NBA All-Star.
