A German boy is found alive in a sewer drain eight days after he went missing. On June 17th, eight-year-old Joe went missing from his home in Oldenburg in northwest Germany.
Police mounted a massive search for the boy and came up empty. But eight days after he was initially reported missing, a passer-by heard a soft whimper coming from a manhole cover and called emergency services.
Rescuers located Joe at the bottom of the sewer drain, around 200 yards from his home. Firefighters entered the sewer and brought the boy out. Although he was suffering from hypothermia, he had no major injuries and his family later reported that he was “doing well.”
