An Ohio family’s car is stolen with their five-year-old’s specialized wheelchair in the back and the community helps them track it down. One morning last week, Brittany Jackson went to get in her car and noticed it wasn’t in the driveway of their Findlay, Ohio home. After confirming that her husband hadn’t borrowed it, she called the police and reported it stolen.
The theft would be bad enough on its own, but the thief had also taken their son Jayceon’s one-of-a-kind wheelchair, which was in the back of the car. The five-year-old boy has spinal muscular atrophy, has limited mobility, and is completely dependent on the wheelchair to get around. Police were able to locate the Jacksons’ car, but Jayceon’s wheelchair was nowhere to be found. So Brittany took to social media to plead for help.
Her post was shared by hundreds of people in their community and within hours the wheelchair was found in a horse pasture about 25 miles away. The thief had just carelessly thrown it out into the field along with Jayceon’s Easter basket. The Jacksons expressed gratitude for all the help they got from their community. And little Jayceon was especially grateful, saying, "Thank you for finding my wheelchair.”
