An Idaho Boy raises close to $2-thousand for the Idaho Humane Society (IHS) by selling lemonade. Last week, Boise nine-year-old Ben Miller went to the IHS Adoption Center and delivered a plastic bag full of cash. Miller was donating the proceeds from the sales at his fundraiser. "We did a lemonade stand last weekend and we raised $1,150 dollars," the proud third-grader says.
Miller started his charitable lemonade stand a couple of years ago and has made giving to IHS a yearly tradition. "I started two years back and the first time I donated about $200 dollars, and the second time I donated about $600, and this time about $1,150," Miller says. "I usually sell lemonade, lavender lemonade, and cookies and dog treats."
IHS rep Kristine Schellhaas says they love seeing kids raising funds to help the cause. “We are just so thankful," she says. "We are always in short supply of cat donations, and since Ben loves cats, we'll definitely use it to help cats!” But Miller’s not in it for the thanks, he just wants the animals to be happy. And he’s already planning next year’s lemonade stand. "I think I'm going to do this every year, or at least as long as we can," he says.
