NY Jets Donating $1M To Ukraine Relief Efforts

The New York Jets are donating $1-million to aid relief efforts in Ukraine. Earlier this week, the Jets announced a $1-million donation to help the people of Ukraine in the wake of the Russian invasion six weeks ago. The money will be split between several organizations over the next year, with each receiving $100-thousand.

Suzanne Johnson, wife of Jets’ owner Woody Johnson, is of Ukrainian descent and grew up in a Ukrainian neighborhood in New York. When she saw the atrocities happening in Ukraine under the Russian assault, she thought of her late parents and grandparents and was moved to help. “I wanted to do my part in helping and to bring awareness because this is a problem that’s not going to go away,” she says. “The world has been quite generous and I just hope it continues to be that way.”

The first organization to receive a donation from the Jets is Plast Scouting USA, which is focused on providing first-aid kits and medical supplies in Ukraine. Plast Scouting USA chairman Andrew Kozak says the organization is grateful for the donation. “The funds will be put to immediate use in the purchase of critical medical supplies to treat the many heavily wounded Ukrainians," Kozak says.

  • In addition to the monetary donation, the Jets are offering to match any medical supply donations their staff make.
