Baltimore Ravens Donate $500K For Accessible Playground

Baltimore is getting a new wheelchair-accessible playground, thanks in part to a $500-thousand donation from the Baltimore Ravens. Last Friday, Baltimore County officials broke ground on a new park in Northwest Regional Park in Owings Mills, a Baltimore suburb northwest of the city. The Ravens’ involvement is part of the NFL Play 60 campaign which encourages kids to get active for at least 60 minutes a day.

The 0.8 acre one-of-a-kind inclusive playground will feature:

  • wheelchair-accessible rubberized surfaces
  • a timed challenge course with 14 obstacles
  • an artificial turf 40-yard dash
  • musical elements
  • custom climbing structures
  • a 17-foot-tall play tower with slides

“This new destination playground promises to bring years of joy to children all over the region,” says Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski. “I am incredibly grateful to the Ravens organization for its generosity in supporting this project and the children of Baltimore County.” The park is expected to be completed in early fall.
