Support is pouring in for an Asian-owned convenience store that was robbed and vandalized by a man allegedly using racial slurs. Joyce and Mun Sung, owners of Plaza Sundries in Charlotte, North Carolina, were helpless as they watched someone they recognize as a regular customer use a metal bar to destroy and damage their shop.
Video footage of the attack shows the man aggressively throwing food on the floor, smashing the sliding glass door of a refrigerator and punching the plastic divider at the register. He was allegedly yelling racial slurs while another man with him shouted, “That’s what you get!” at the owners.
The GOOD news here is that donations are pouring in for a GoFundMe campaign created for the store. It’s raised more than $40-thousand so far, and it’s only been a few days. The suspect has also been arrested on charges including damage to personal property, robbery with a dangerous weapon, communicating threats, misdemeanor larceny and disorderly conduct.
