Gas Station Workers Give New Bike To Favorite Customer

Some employees at a gas station in Idaho chipped in to help out their favorite customer. BobbySutcliffe works at a Chevron station in Boise and loves his job, his coworkers and his regular customers, especially Chris McDermott. He says the place lights up when Chris comes in and everybody loves seeing him.

The men have become close friends over the last year and Chris has special needs that can make communicating difficult, but Sutcliffe says he doesn’t even see them. “I just see the love that he brings,” he says. “I just understand his smiles and fist bumps.” Chris rides his bicycle all over town and his pal noticed it was getting worn out and needed new brakes and pedals, so he decided to work on getting him a new bike.

When Sutcliffe mentioned this to his coworkers, they were happy to pitch in and together, the Chevron crew bought Chris a new bike. Sutcliffe says seeing the joy on his friend’s face made him feel like Christmas morning. “I got my fist bump and a smile, and to see him ride off safely,” he says. “It’s rewarding.”
