Some folks have driven many miles and waited in lines to get their COVID vaccine, but a few travelers in Oregon had the vaccine come right to them. In case you missed it, when a snowstorm hit southwestern Oregon last week, some lucky drivers who were stuck in it received their shot from the comfort of their car.
Josephine County Public Health workers were on their way back from a mass vaccination clinic when about 20 of them got stranded in the snowstorm. They had six doses of the vaccine leftover, so to keep it from being unused before expiring, the workers went from car to car to offer people the chance to get the shot, according to the health department.
All six doses were given to the delayed drivers, including a sheriff’s office employee who was planning to be at the mass vaccination event earlier, but got stuck in the snow. An ambulance was also waiting nearby in case anyone had an adverse reaction.
