Community Raises Money For A Car For Security Guard After Good Deed

A couple in Hawaii is helping a kindhearted man who went out of the way to help them. Chloe Marino was in a rush at the supermarket and lost her wallet during her grocery run. Luckily, Aina Townsend, a store security guard, saw the wallet in a shopping cart, so after his shift, he returned it to Marino.

But he doesn’t have a car, so he pedaled the three miles on a bicycle - about an hour uphill - to deliver the wallet. Marino and her husband, Gray, were blown away that Townsend would go out of his way to help a stranger like that. So they shared the story on Facebook and the act of kindness inspired a friend of theirs, Greg Gaudet, to start a GoFundMe to repay the good deed and give Townsend the ultimate Christmas gift: a car!

The online fundraiser had a modest goal of $5-thousand, but it’s blown past that and donors have kicked in more than $23-thousand so far! The plan is to use the money to buy him a car, and pay for Townsend’s first year of insurance and gas. After commuting on his bike for five years, he says having a car would be “like winning the Super Bowl.”
