As teachers in Florida get ready to head back to school, they’re scrambling to get all the supplies they need for their classrooms. Thousands of them have joined the "Adopt a Sarasota County Teacher" Facebook group, where educators post their Amazon wish lists for school supplies and the community has stepped up to help them.
Sarasota County teacher Pat-e Gillezeau explains that the need is even greater this year because teachers need to have individual items for each student, they can’t share them as they have in the past. But thanks to a lot of generous people in the area, teachers are getting the supplies they need and they’re so thankful.
“Positivity will get us through and a few extra stickers, books and supplies will help too,” first grade teacher Deb Donnelly Smithsays. “On behalf of all educators, we thank you for your support.”
