Double Amputee Five-Year-Old Raises $500K For Hospital

A five-year-old boy in the U.K. who lost both of his legs after being abused by his biological parents is raising money for the children’s hospital that treated him. Tony Hudgell uses prosthetics and crutches and has challenged himself to walk 10k in June. He’s already received more than half a million dollars in donations in just a week on his Just Giving fundraiser.

Tony was inspired by Captain Tom Moore, the 100-year-old veteran who raised more than $41-million for the National Health Service by walking laps in his garden. Tony is donating the funds he raises to the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, which saved his life and continues to care for him.

“We have been overwhelmed to see the support for Tony as he takes on his own 10k to support our hospital,” the hospital tweeted. “Words cannot express our gratitude and admiration for this incredibly brave boy.”
