“Kindness Committee” Runs Errands For Neighbors Stuck At Home

As people are socially distancing to avoid crowds during the coronavirus outbreak, one neighborhood in Tennessee is lending a helping hand to those who can’t leave home. In the Old North Knoxville Historic District neighborhood, they’ve started a “Kindness Committee” to offer help to those with weakened immune systems who are stuck at home.

Kelly Arsenault is the chairperson and has a team of volunteers to assist neighbors in a number of ways, from running errands, to picking up groceries, to meal prepping. Those in need use a Google form to request it and the Kindness Committee steps in to help. It’s bringing the neighborhood together that’s the point.

“It’s a really useful tool to have,” Arsenault says, “to know that you can depend on each other to help out through this time.”
