Mansfield Safety Forces Change Way They Do Their Jobs During Pandemic

Mansfield Safety forces are having to change the way they do their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic.

RichlandSource.com reports the more than 160 police officers and fire fighters have their temperature checked first thing when they arrive at work, which one of many changes to their daily routine.

Firefighter and paramedic, Pete Champer, said unfortunately this is our new normal.

Champer, who's a Shelby High School graduate and Mansfield's 2019 Firefighter of the year, said they have changed the emergency transport procedures for 911 calls due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

So far, Mansfield has not seen a huge increase in emergency calls, unlike other cities.

Mansfield Police officer Thayne Telequist said you wash your hands more and put on gloves. Also, they are going through to a lot more hand sanitizer.
