Public Boating Course Offered by Mansfield Power Squadron

Anyone new to boating and others who desire to further develop their boating and boating safety skills may

attend the America's Boating Course (ABC). The course is taught by a certified instructor of the Mansfield

Power Squadron at the Madison Adult Career Center (MACC) in Madison Comprehensive High School, 600 Esley Lane, Mansfield. The course is scheduled to begin on TuesdayJanuary 24, 2023 from 6-8pm. The class

will continue each Tuesday for 9-10 weeks. Registration is made through MACC by calling 414.589.6363

Classes can help you reduce the risk of accidents and injuries, save on boat insurance and qualify for the state boat operator certificate. This in-person class allows you to seek answers to your questions while gaining 

knowledge of boating and boating safety. Topics include:

  • Boating laws (state and federal)
  • Safety and safety equipment
  • Finding your way safely
  • Boat handling, rules of the road, navigation aids
  • Anchoring, docking, knots and lines
  • Trailering, boat maintenance
  • Communications
  • How to handle emergencies and mechanical problems and more
